Bring your own provider key

Run models on your own provider account: the provider bills you, and Sushibelt charges a small fee per step.

Before you start
  • An account and API key with a provider Sushibelt supports.
  • Access to your team's settings in the app.
You'll end with
Steps that run on your provider account, charged a fraction of a credit each.

If your team already has an account with a provider that runs a model you use, you can bring your own provider key (BYOK). Sushibelt then calls that provider with your key: the provider bills your account, and Sushibelt charges only a small fee per step instead of the model's price.

Add a provider key#

  1. In the app, open Team settings. Under Connections, choose Provider keys.
  2. Find the provider, and paste the key from your account with that provider.
  3. Choose where it applies: the whole team, or one project. A project's own key is used before the team's, so a project can run on a different account from the rest of the team.

Keys are encrypted and never shown to a browser again. From the next run on, every step routed to that provider uses your key — whether the run was started on the canvas or from the API. Nothing changes in your workflows or your code.

What changes, and what does not#

  • The charge. A step on your key costs a fraction of a credit instead of the model's price. The provider charges your account for the model, at your rates.
  • The estimate. The estimate and the credit hold for a run already use the lower charge.
  • Quotas and rate limits. Yours, from your account with the provider.
  • Everything else. Sushibelt still runs the workflow: it dispatches each step, stores the outputs in your library, records the licence, and answers the API the same way.

A provider you have no key for runs on Sushibelt's own account, at the usual price. Remove your key to go back to that.

Tip: your own API, with no Sushibelt charge

The Custom API node calls any HTTPS API you describe, filled from your saved keys. Sushibelt charges nothing for it.

Your limits still apply#

A key's monthly cap, your team's per-step ceiling and a project's hard cap count the credits Sushibelt charges, which on your own key is the per-step fee. They do not limit what your provider bills you: set a budget with the provider too. See Cap your spend.

Read the model's licence and your provider's terms before you ship what it makes. See Use a model's licence in your product.

The licence on a run's output records the provider and model that made each file, whichever account paid.
